One step closer...

Sunday, Scott and I put the crib together! It was painless and somewhat easy. I am never one to enjoy the ‘building process’ ..especially if I have to read a 10 page manual to accomplish one task. Much to my surprise, the ‘construction’ went by very fast. The chest of drawers that we ordered already came assembled…so the only construction part was the crib! We were delighted when we opened the box and the chest of drawers was already put together. We are waiting on one more piece and then the furniture will be completed! SO FUN!

This week, I hope to get the room painted. Although my thoughts on this change frequently, I’m thinking a pinkish color for the walls (soft….not bubble gum) and a lime greenish color for the bathroom. The material for the bedding is bought (toile…pronounced twall) and polka dot.

I will take a pic when it’s finished=)

We are excited….

Hammer Time

The baby furniture came in today!! (only took a week) Hooray! I am excited to see the room come together. Mom is making the baby bedding stuff....we picked out black material with white polka dots, a twall print (have no idea on how to spell it), and pink and lime green.....CUTE! I couldn't find anything pre-made to fit my whimsical taste...so, I enlisted mom's help! (THANKS MOM!)
Still deciding on what color I will paint the wall...pink or lime green...not sure yet.
Things are starting to seem a bit more real=)

She is super active. Rolls, kicks, etc very frequently! She's busy!

We had our 24 week appt this week. Everything measured as it should and everything looked normal. Our next appt is beginning of Feb.

(this picture is what an average 24 week baby looks like!)

According to the 24 week mark…the following is how the baby is developing:

She's about eight and a half inches long and one and a half pounds, gaining steadily at a rate of six ounces per week. Much of that weight comes from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones, and muscle. By now, that fabulous face is almost fully formed, complete with eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair. Is your baby a brunette, a blond, or a redhead? Actually, right now her locks are white since there's no pigment yet. (from http://www.whattoexpect.com/ )

The unsung hero of the fetal support system is the umbilical cord, which forms a vital link between the fetus and the placenta. The cord contains two arteries and one large vein; by birth, it may measure up to four feet long. Every 30 seconds, nutrients and oxygen-rich blood are transported from the placenta to the fetus via the single vein, then back again to the placenta through the two arteries. This ingenious method ensures a constant supply of filtered air and nutrients, and keeps the mother's blood separate from the baby's. (from http://www.parents.com/ )

Ford's F-Series still reigns

For the 32nd year in a row, Ford's F-Series is America's best-selling truck with 2008 sales of 515,513. Ford Motor Co. reported that the F-series outsold its nearest truck rival by more than 50,000 units. In addition, for the 27th year in a row, F-Series is once again America's best-selling vehicle of any type -- car, crossover, SUV, truck or van. The automaker also told Detroit Free Press that the redesigned F-150, which is the top-selling model in the lineup, is helping Ford gain market share.

'talking' back....Sassy!

Last night, after work, I rushed home so that I could take a nap before Scott’s home game. (We won! Go Peay!) Just as I was getting cozy and very relaxed…baby kicked very hard. I waited a minute...and she kicked again in the same spot. Amused, I decided to poke at her….in the same spot. And the game began! I poked…she kicked. I poked… she kicked. And this went on for atleast a minute. It was humorous. Baby girl is already ‘talking back.’ Haha….

Hope you had a lovely Christmas! We sure did. As always, spoiled and blessed=)

The entire Combs Crew (6 adults and 4 kids) came Sunday through Christmas Eve…we celebrated every day! It was awesome!

On Christmas Eve, the Jenkins Clan went out to eat (tradition) and opened our treats afterwards (tradition as long as we are all in town). On Christmas Day, the Jenkins Clan, family friends: Pops and Barbar Blackston and Gayle and Howard Wiles came over. Mom/Dad cooked a wonderful lunch!! We played dirty santa…and had a really fun time. After that- we chilled and relaxed. It was a *wonderful* day to say the least!

Baby girl Combs is alive and well…kicks or rolls (or whatever she does) very frequently. Scott has been able to feel her move. Such a surreal feeling…but I love it.

I am currently on the big hunt for furniture and bedding. Such decisions! (haven’t made any yet…who knew that I would have such opinions on bedding. No themes, nothing too girly or fru-fru, not too pink or purple..etc.)

It’s hard to believe that I am more than half-way done. Time really has gone fast=)

It's almost year 2009....wow...

I love brilliant vision….

The bailout (government loan) passed for GM and Chrysler today! Thanks, President Bush!!

This will tremendously help the auto industry as a whole…and therefore, positively help the economy. I read in Kiplinger’s Newsletter today: ‘it is estimated that 1 in 10 people that reside in USA are tied, one way or another, to the automotive industry.’ That is a TON of people!

A few years ago, the USA couldn’t grasp why Ford would close plants, etc. I can’t tell you how many negative comments I heard from people...who plainly just didn’t understand…that includes the media, too. Thank goodness for brilliant vision is all I can say! Ford had the foresight to borrow against its property and assets two years ago; risky...yes...but that has helped us in the long run. As mentioned a few years ago- but no one really wanted to hear it…or refused to see the other side of the picture…Ford started early getting back to the basics. If others followed our lead even 2 years ago, they wouldn’t be in as nearly as much trouble as they are now.
Yes, plants were shut down. But did you know that many of them were plants that were only producing one or two vehicles…and couldn’t produce as fast as needed? So, Ford, with great vision, decided to update the outdated plants! Now, plants are greener and more efficient in production. The goal is for plants to be able to produce multiple units-- faster! Also, another reason for restructure is to be able to change models every few years…and not be stuck with the old model. That way, you as a consumer, will always have fresh product to consider. Thank goodness for sound vision of Allan Mullay and the Ford Team.

Another ‘restructure vision’ that Ford started a few years ago- shifting focus from trucks to cars: getting more into the cars market and not just being known for the quality trucks. (By the way: just announced: 2009 Ford F150 was named Motor Trend Truck of the Year yesterday. A prestigious honor!) Ford will be producing a large car line-up in the next 3 years…larger than we have ever seen. Ford has recognized the need for a large, green, and efficient car market…and started acting on that vision years ago. With Ford’s decision to strongly move in the car market, they had to start to restructure the manufacture plants. They closed plants that were no longer going to be of use…and also turned plants over from a truck plants to a car plant.

The restructure and down-sizing that Ford started years ago has greatly impacted our financial state today. Ford is getting back to the basics and is only spending where necessary. One area they are not compromising is product design and development. Ford is ready for the future! (I know firsthand because I work with a Ford Team in MI on several projects.)

Ford, like all other manufactures, has a lot of growth in front of them. Ford is looking for fresh ways to connect to more customers and more ways to create a loyal buyer. We do have a steep hill to climb in 2009…but I can honestly say that I am most grateful for God placing Allan Mullay in Ford. I appreciate his wisdom and leadership and feel confident in Ford’s future…and therefore my families’ future. Jenkins & Wynne have been in business for almost 56 years in Clarksville…and none of the Jenkins clan plan to go anywhere! We are loyal to our community and customers and thrive in helping people. We are well-established and secure. We have the best employees in the area…and our customer satisfaction levels have been recognized with numerous honors and awards.

It’s funny, because I never really thought that I would get into the car business. But now that I am, I honestly couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. Yes, I work in a very, very competitive field…that creates a daily consistency of stress and hard work….that the general public could never truly understand. But at the end of the day, I am blessed with my calling to work here, blessed with my career, and blessed to work with my family in such an incredible line of work.

Have you driven a Ford (Lincoln or Mercury) lately?

Week 20

Week 20 of Pregnancy
You've got a heavyweight in your belly at 20 weeks prego (well, in baby terms, anyway). Your little champ weighs about ten ounces and has a height, crown to rump, of about six and a half inches. Think small cantaloupe (and probably as sweet too).
If you're carrying a girl fetus, her uterus is fully formed this week and her vaginal canal is starting its development. She also has primitive eggs in her tiny little ovaries now, seven million of them — though by the time she's born, that number will be down to two million. And interestingly, your baby girl will be born with all the eggs she'll ever have.

(above taken from http://www.whattoexpect.com/)

That’s where we are now! We had an appt this week. She was very active, once again, as Dr. Anderson took her heart rate measurement. Everything looks good, he said. Her measurements are normal and her heart rate is in the normal range.
