the rest of Aug

CKC is 4 months old!

She is now learning to grab for a few things…like our cheeks or chin, etc. She likes to look at light, etc, and will react. She ‘talks’ more and more. Hearing her learn the sound of her voice is hilarious. I laugh out loud all the time. Loves to smile! For the past several nights (in a row) has slept from about 9pm to 6am. Sits in her bumbo chair and loves it. Still remains a very pleasant baby.

A Perfect Day

Yesterday proved to be a perfect day. Great-great-great day.
Run-Shop- Eat- Play…all ingredients for a fun day!

CKC was still asleep (from the night before) when I left the house at 6am. YEA!

RUN: Woke up early and ran with several of my girl friends. Good convo, good giggles, good bonding, good exercise. And my dear buddy- Julie, who lives in Chicago now- was in town...and she ran with us…together we finished 12 miles. Great run!

Had enough time to relax afterwards while Scott was doing his swimming workout. I got to properly ice and eat, etc…nice. CKC cooperated very well and was chill.

SHOP/EAT: Then went to Opry Mills and ate with the Heads. Emy and Annlee’s faces watching the fish were precious. Turner is a trooper…she’s due with baby Dane in 3 weeks. We all shopped around for a bit. Again, CKC cooperated very well. Along for the ride!

Ran to Green Hills after that to get something. Along the way we decided to go into Abercrombie. You know you’re too old to go in there when the baby stroller won’t fit between the displays. (ah!)

EAT: took Scott to Calypso CafĂ© in West End. Delicious! I had fruit tea...my fav! I always love eating there. It’s a very simple place...but clean, fresh, wonderful. (Also, received a 94 on the food survey thing! Yes, I do look for those and make a decision whether or not I’ll eat there based on the survey.)

Went to Krispy Kreme (YEA YEA!) and orderd 4 doughnuts and the lady gave us 6! Bonus!

Came home and visited with Mom and Dad….who have been in Greece, Italy, etc for a long time. Thrilled to give them a hug!!

Really, a perfect day.

(throw in some lake time and skiing time and it would have been a flawless day..haha)

Makes me wonder....

If the proposed government health care program is going to be ‘organized’ like the Cash for Clunkers program…I can say that I don’t want much to do with it at all.

The lack of organization on the government’s ends is seriously funny….and I say funny because I can’t come up with another word. Although this has been a tremendous program for us- and stores across the nation- the details and the background work is unreal. The lack of preparation for this program- on the government’s end- boggles my mind. Is this what Obama Admin is proposing for health care? Another plan that will be ‘organized’ like the cash for clunkers was…or wait…was not? In theory this Plan seemed brilliant…on paper this program was a logistical nightmare.

The govt still owes us more $$ than I wish to think about. Is it ironic that the govt will/ has taken their time on paying us back….and seems to be in no hurray…yet if one of us tax payers was late on paying $$ (taxes in particular) there is severe punishment? Jail time, etc, etc?

I pray for our Nation’s leaders that they will make the wise choice…in any decision. I am not a political person. Normally I do not get wrapped up in it….but this topic has struck a cord with me because I’ve seen firsthand what the ‘health care program’ could look like…if it is run like the Cash for Clunkers.

Thankfully, Dad is savvy and we have wonderful leaders here. Dad, Murray, Larry, Bobby, etc took this plan under their wings and memorized the rules frontwards and backwards. Our gracious Accounting Dept has poured so much time and effort to make sure that all the deals are congruent with the Plan and make sure that all deals ‘get approved’ by the govt. Hats off to them!

We sold 150+ deals from Cash for Clunkers. For that, I am most most grateful. Very thankful for the energy this program created and the excitement in the automotive world it has brought! We are drained of vehicles=) Great problem to have!

Below is an email that is circulating…. I find the ‘lesson’ most appropriate.
_____________________________

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Name that tune....

Thoughts

My mind-set right now:
Mike: Casey can I have a huggie?
Me: Do you need that exact brand or will pampers do?
Mike: well, I just need a coozie for my drink.
Ahhhh……

Don’t assume anything:
If you see me today, don’t mistake me for a big ripe tomato! I used some product from mom…and I thought it was moisturizer. For 2 days I smeared the ‘moisturizer’ on my face...until last night I realized that I looked like a lobster. My face was red as my couches! It was then that I realized that my ‘moisturizer’ was in fact FACE SOAP!
Ahhhh….

3 months old!

CKC is very interactive now! She giggles, smiles, and 'talks' up a storm! She reaches for your face, follows you wherever you walk to, and likes to hold her bottle. She's a growing girl! I get asked all the time: who does she look like? humm...time will tell=)
